MINDFULNESS MEDITATION CLASSES IN BARCELONA
What's the difference between mindfulness and meditation?
Meditation and mindfulness are two paths leading to wellness and peace. Both work with the idea of calming the mind, reducing anxiety and making a halt into the non-stop flow of our thoughts and actions.
Mindfulness is a form of meditation focused on the present moment (for example, in the act of walking or drinking a cup of tea). After its recent introduction in the West, mindfulness classes have adapted to the goals of modern society- reducing stress and living a healthy lifestyle.
For example, becoming aware of your eating patterns can help you lose weight and improve your habits; keeping alert when you consume coffee, alcohol, medicines or other drugs allows you to reduce your consumption and dependence; gaining control over your mind and inducing positive thinking cures insomnia, depression and many other psychosomatic stress related disorders.
Mindfulness or meditation?
The main difference between a mindfulness course and meditation classes is that meditation covers a wider spectrum: it investigates the mind in depth to achieve highest concentration and consciousness.
Zen meditation, vipassana meditation or sankhya yoga meditation emerge from within the bosom of great cosmological traditions and are intimately related to the study of sacred traditions, compassion, self-inquiry, devotion and surrender - and of course mindfulness.
